"Liverpool's Top Ear Wax Removal: Microsuction vs Irrigation"

Ear wax, also known as cerumen, is a natural substance produced by the body to protect the ears from foreign particles and bacteria. However, sometimes the wax can build up and cause discomfort or even hearing loss. When this happens, it's important to have the wax removed by a professional. At medicure hearing, there are two main methods for ear wax removal: microsuction and irrigation.

Microsuction is a method of ear wax removal that uses a small, fine-tipped suction device to gently remove the wax. This method is considered to be the most effective and safest method of ear wax removal as it uses a microscope to visualize the ear canal and the wax. It is also quick, taking around 15-20 minutes to remove the wax. Microsuction is particularly useful for patients with hearing aids or ear drums that have perforations.

Irrigation, on the other hand, is a method of ear wax removal that uses a gentle stream of water to flush the wax out of the ear canal. This method is considered to be less effective than microsuction. Irrigation can cause damage to the ear canal if not performed properly which is why it is important to have a medical professional carry out the proceedure.

As an ear wax removal specialist based in Liverpool, I offer both microsuction and irrigation services to my patients. I am mobile, providing ear wax removal services at the patient's home or office, and I am also based in a clinic in Tuebrook called Balance Health Centre, every Thursday and Saturday.

In summary, microsuction and irrigation are two effective methods of ear wax removal. Microsuction is considered to be the most effective and safest method, while irrigation is considered to be less effective. Irrigation can be more useful in certain cases where wax is hard and far down the ear canal. As an ear wax removal specialist nurse, I offer both of these methods in my clinic in Tuebrook and on home visits. Microsuction will usually be the first point of call and if irrigation is also needed we will use a combination of both. By using a combination of microsuction and irrigation I am almost always able to remove all wax safely on your first appointment.

You can book your appointment in the clinic in Tuebrook, or if you would prefer a home visit I cover all areas of Liverpool for ear wax removal appointment. Including Sefton, Huyton, West Derby, Formby, Hightown, Crosby, Waterloo, Speke, Norris Green, Knowsley, St Helens and surrounding areas.
